I found myself staring at my computer monitor on a very hot June 11, 2022. I had the stereo at maximum volume, to rise above the din of the swamp cooler running at full blast. I zoned out for a while with my eyes closed, listening to the music. When I finally opened my eyes again, my screen saver was displaying a unique slide show. All of the images were mine, from years ago, most likely from my long-dead Tumblr account. I was enthralled by the haphazard, random display of familiar images. It felt like I was in some heat-induced fever dream. On a lark, I started shooting new photos of the slideshow with my iPhone, using the NOMO simulation app. The resulting new photographs all have the date in the corner, numbered 22 06 11. Here are some of the most interesting images. I like to think of it as an extended re-mix, created on a hot summer day. Turn up the volume, I’m slanted and enchanted.
